My Statement on the Use of AI in Writing and Publishing
My work with you is guaranteed to be 100% human-powered work. That means that I will never, at any point in the process of our working together, put the writing that you entrust to me through any AI assistant or program to get its input. AI has been trained on the work of countless authors, writers, artists, and thinkers, and without their consent. Therefore, I will never take your work and “ask” it how to improve it.
I am a seasoned editor who has 33 years of experience teaching English and grammar, editing, and mentoring, and I would never sully my own reputation by asking AI to “fix” your work or rewrite or give suggestions. In terms of editing, I do developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, and indexing, and the answer is the same: I guarantee that I alone will be the one who will carry out the tasks necessary to improve your work.
I also do not edit work which has been created by AI. If you have chosen to use AI to write your manuscript for you, I do not consider that you are its author, and therefore, I will not work with you. You may find a program which “humanizes” your content more to your liking. This may seem harsh, but I am here to teach people who desire to improve on their craft and use their own imaginations, not to make a machine sound more like the countless incredible creators whose work has been taken without their consent to make it sound more human.
