  • Ritualcravt Classes, Live, and On-Demand Classes

Are you a homebody? Do you like to learn but you want to stay in bed and drink tea and watch videos by candlelight? Well, I’ve got something for you! Netflix is cool, but how about spending some of that down time learning fascinating new information? Take time to refresh your spirits, learn new stories to tell, or become a better writer in any of one (or more) of my classes. Most of my classes are taught live over zoom, and I offer a lot of different day/time options. I teach through my own business but also for Ritualcravt!! I also offer a fully-contained on-demand course on Fairy-Tale Fashion on Thinkific—let me know if you have any questions!

  • The Aspiring Writer

The Aspiring Writer is a personalized mentoring program created to assist a writer as they seek to create a published book. Think of it as an independent study between us, where your project needs dictate what kinds of content we focus on. Aspiring writers must commit to 4 sessions in order to see measurable progress. We can work on creating work, organizing material you’ve already written, revising your work, proofreading, or even some lessons on grammar and writing skills as needed. Our goal is to get that book out of your head and into your hands!

  • 1-on-1 Private English Tutor Via Zoom

Offer your son or daughter in high school or college the very best option for targeted academic help in 1-on-1 private instruction in English. With 27 years of teaching experience in English in higher education and an approachable and supportive teaching style, I create a personalized flipped classroom where I guide your student to shine in English grammar and writing skills. I can help students needing remedial work all the way up to and including students in AP English. Additionally, I can help college students working on papers for classes in the humanities. Sessions are sliding scale pricing and over Zoom. LGBTQIA safe space.

  • Testimonials and Reviews

Let’s be real: this is probably one of the most important sections of my website, especially if you don’t know me. It can be tough to decide to hand money to a stranger. I get it! I’m the same. But if you read on here, you will discover what my clients have said about my work! I have included here reviews from those who have taken classes with me, been tutored by me, or whose work I’ve edited. You can also check out my 5-star review on my business listing on Google for additional written reviews!

  • Editing (Planning, Development, Revision, Copyediting, Proofreading, Indexing)

See all of those books with my name on them? I never dreamed of becoming an author, until I did. If I can do it, so can you! Whether your story takes the form of a poem, a short piece, a novel, or another form, I have 28 years of editorial experience that will help you bring your story to life. I can edit any type of book, fiction or non-fiction. I’ve got experience and publications with both! I can also help with smaller projects, like editing a short story or working on your poetry skills. Pricing is competitive and fair and you will receive personal attention through every step of the process. Click through to read more and reach out through my contact form for a free consultation.

  • About Me

I’m the creatrix of Professor of Words, LLC, founded in 2022 as a one-woman-owned small business. You could call me a Jane-of-all-trades in the academic discipline of English, because I’ve got tons of experience (28 years, to be exact!) working with every facet of creating ideas, analyzing literature and film, and writing. I’m your personal Fairy Godmother who will help you become the Storyteller of your Dreams. Read on to learn more about my credentials and my mission. I am here to help people with a huge variety of styles of writing and love teaching literature and film analysis!

  • The Library: Free Content!

Welcome to my Library! I am going to be adding free content to this section of my website regularly. There will be writing tips and techniques, extra information on some of the things I teach, ideas for classes that I haven’t yet offered and content associated with them, writing prompts, etc. Why should you check this out? Well, if you’ve never taken me for a class, or never been tutored by me, you can get a taste of how I write, my approachable style, my attention to detail, and my ability to explain concepts and ideas. Think of the Library as a preview of what you’ll get if you become my client!

  • Blog Essays

Occasionally I write opinion pieces. A selection of these is included here: I write on lots of topics, such as magic and spirituality, education, writing and tutoring, reactions to television shows, films, and books, and sometimes I will share poetry or short stories I’ve written as well. Additionally, I am a writer for Medium. If you’re interested in following me on Medium, just search for me and hit the follow button! There are loads of great writers there who can give you inspiration. Perhaps if you read a piece of mine here or there, it will give you an idea to write your own essay!

  • My Favorite Businesses

Here’s where I’m all about the shout-outs to my favorite small businesses. As you can imagine, I am partial to businesses that sell books, but also, I love jewelry, and I love featuring the work of those who make gorgeous talismans with intent and magic. I am a huge supporter of self-employed people, particularly women-owned businesses. These people are creating wondrous things, and they need your help now more than ever. If you’d like a partnership with me (I feature and link your business, you feature and link mine), reach out via my contact form! I’m always looking for new connections.

  • My Favorite Books

Want to see the books I recommend? This section includes my own published books (of course!) as well as books that friends have published that I highly recommend. I also include some of the books that I recommend in my classes as optional in case you’re interested. Lastly, I include books that I just plain LOVE. Some you may recognize, others you may not, but all are worlds into which I like to dive more than once and have attained the rank of “classic” status in my personal library. All links are affiliate links, which is a small way to support my business!

  • Student Projects: Coming Soon!

In my larger courses (designated by meeting 4 or more times instead of a one-night class), I give a lot of project ideas to students if they would like to get more out of the course by taking an active part in “building” or “creating” something to go along with it. These projects can take the form of creative writing (poetry or stories), crafting (sewing, needlework, fiber arts, etc.) or creating sacred spaces, like altars in the home or areas of respite to read and dream. If you take one of my classes and complete a project, send me pictures of your work! Send me your original writing, if you’d like me to share it! Let YOUR creativity inspire others!

  • Policies

Well of course every business has this kind of boring section, which is why I’ve saved it till the end, but as you would imagine, every small business needs policies to run smoothly, so here is a list of mine. Read through these if you are taking a class, hiring me as an English tutor for yourself or your son or daughter, or if you contract with me to edit your work. These are put in place to help all of us as I assist you on your quest to become a more learned, more skillful storyteller!

  • Contact me!

Is this my house pictured above? No, but a girl can dream, right? The fact is that I DO have a small home, surrounded by a ton of mature trees towering overhead, and a living room that I turned into a personal library. I am surrounded by cats, indoors and out, and I communicate with the world mostly by email and zoom! I’m here all the time, and I’m only an email away, so if you’re interested in any of my services, please reach out! I’m happy to give you more information if that helps you decide whether to take a class, have me tutor you or your son or daughter, or serve as your editor.
